| | Copyright Peter Clark | - Henley Regatta
- Rowing clubs were racing on the Thames at Henley Reach for many years, so eventually the town council decided to create an annual event. Henley Regatta was started in 1839 when it was raced on a single afternoon, and when it was attended by a member of the Royal Family it became Henley Royal Regatta. It has since expanded to a 5 day event and is now the largest and most famous regatta in the world.
There are colour photos elswhere here . This is the best guide site I know of, http://www.twrc.rowing.org.uk/hrr/henleyguide.htm it's funny in a very English, tongue-in-cheek way, but still completely true. Definitely worth a read. - Album was created 6 years 4 months ago and modified 6 years 4 months ago

| | Copyright Peter Clark | - Border country and Paragliders
- Taken from one end of the Black Mountain, a place on the Offa's Dyke path called Hay Bluff, 677m (2,200ft) looking from England, over the border into Wales. The bluff is a 275m (900ft) sheer drop so it's a natural place for paragliders and hang-gliders.

| | Copyright Peter Clark | - Royal Ascot, Ladies Day.
- During Royal Ascot week, Thursday is Ladies Day. It's a holiday and the ladies come from all over the country, from all walks of life, all wearing outrageous hats and dressed up for a holiday at the races. The racecourse has been there since Victorian times so there is practically no space for car parking. Parking areas are set up around the town and people walk from there and from the railway station, having used the train to avoid the horrendous traffic jam at the end of the day.
