Trent & Mersey canal
Abbreviated to the "T&M"
Joining Liverpool on the West coast with Kingston Upon Hull on the East coast by connecting the River Mersey with the River Trent at Nottingham. As well as bringing raw materials into and taking manufactured goods out from the steel and potteries towns of Staffordshire, the canal formed a 'Main Line' across the country and allowed many other canals to link together into an interconnected system.

Henley Regatta
Rowing clubs were racing on the Thames at Henley Reach for many years, so eventually the town council decided to create an annual event. Henley Regatta was started in 1839 when it was raced on a single afternoon, and when it was attended by a member of the Royal Family it became Henley Royal Regatta. It has since expanded to a 5 day event and is now the largest and most famous regatta in the world.
There are colour photos elswhere here

it's funny in a very English, tongue-in-cheek way, but still completely true. Definitely worth a read.

Border country and Paragliders
Taken from one end of the Black Mountain, a place on the Offa's Dyke path called Hay Bluff, 677m (2,200ft) looking from England, over the border into Wales. The bluff is a 275m (900ft) sheer drop so it's a natural place for paragliders and hang-gliders.
