- Abbey Dore Court Garden.
- Charis Ward has been creating this garden for the past 34 years and is about to open the main house for house parties - six very large bedrooms.
Abbey Dore Court, Abbey Dore, Herefordshire, HR2 0AD. UK
The location is the Golden Valley in Herefordshire, ‘Dore’ is derived from the welsh word ‘dwr’ meaning water. The Norman’s thought it was a reference to the colour of the water (which is red as it runs through land heavy with iron ore), as a result they assumed the French d’or meaning Golden – so the river became the River Dore and the valley became the ‘Golden Valley’.
It's 9 miles long and 6 miles wide with no motorways, not even A grade roads.
